THE MIRROR, A GATEWAY TO THE PAST

A fifty-year old woman looks into the mirror, and sees her wrinkles, and the bags under her eyes. All are side-effects of living, the body’s battle with time.

Many feel that time is the enemy, for it takes away the beauty that the young possess. Beauty, however is traded for the beauty of wisdom, the double-edged sword of becoming older.

Chrissy recently released a digital 7” for Everything Is Chemical featuring three epic chill-out tracks, and is certainly some of his best material thus far. Coyote Clean Up is a purveyor of layered synthesized sounds and textures, ultimately creating some of the best more recent electronica to date.

Chrissy’s music soundtracks the travel through time, his mellow sounds serve as though you are watching your life flash before your eyes, as if it were an instantaneous moment.

Coyote Clean Up: From The Streets Of Detroit [2 mp3s]

    FROM THE STREETS OF DETROIT

Blissed out synth jams comprised of early 90s nostalgia is possibly one of the more accurate ways to categorize Coyote Clean Ups’ laid back style. Chrissy has honed the skill of layering astral synth textures in the background of his tracks, of which Downhill Express and Check Me Out Like Whoa are prime examples of.

Downhill Exxxpress is Coyote Clean Ups’ newest material, and every track is pure gold, a very possible contender for one of my favorite cassettes this year. This limited run C32 is shipping out on I Had An Accident Records July 26th.

Coyote Clean Up x Young Marble Giants: Brand New Life [Track Premiere]

Christian from Coyote Clean Up hit me up with this smooth remix of Young Marble Giants’ Brand New Life. It’s pretty ill. Between RK47 on vocals, and the catchy guitar riff, it’s a nice spring jam.

    Coyote Clean Up

I just stumbled upon Coyote Clean Up somehow, and I am sure happy I did. Out of Detroit, Michigan, Coyote Clean Up makes music that feels really laid-back and dreamy. The best way I can describe his music is that it reminds me a little bit of Memory Cassette (via last summer) but with male vocals. The song This House Boat Is Making Me Sick, in particular, reminds me of summer in the respect that it provokes thoughts of warm weather, laziness, and falling asleep on my bed while reading novels. They have a bunch of stuff planned/in the works such as remixes, a mini-lp, a couple of tapes, collaborations, some split 7”s and compilations, so keep your eyes peeled. You can get a bunch of their songs for free from myspace, get their latest digital release for free from Waaga Records (split remix EP with FUR) or you can try out a couple of my ‘selections’ below:
